This is an 6-hour continuing education event that aims to equip attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the ethical responsibilities involved in fostering both client well-being and counselor self-care. Through a variety of dynamic teaching modalities, this course will explore the interconnectedness of personal wellness and providing effective, ethical, and sustainable care to clients.

This course is approved for 6 continuing education hours (including ethics) for the following boards:

Meet your instructors ✳

Dr. Jennifer Londgren is a licensed marriage and family therapist, a nationally certified counselor, and a board certified telemental health provider. She is an Associate Professor at Minnesota State University, Mankato and the Program Coordinator for the Alcohol and Drug Studies Program. She is the founder of The New Leaf Wellness Institute, an organization dedicated to helping behavioral healthcare providers thrive through customized continuing education and mental health coaching. Dr. Londgren leads a variety of workshops and seminars on topics related to mental wellbeing, self-care, social media, and innovative teaching techniques. She is the author of two books related to addiction and emotional well-being.

Dr. Benjamin Kohls is a licensed professional clinical counselor and a counselor educator with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. He is the Director of Graduate Studies in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Bethany Lutheran College. Dr. Kohls has experience working with at-risk youth at a residential program in Florida, home-based community mental health in Florida and South Dakota, and serving in outpatient, day treatment, and acute inpatient settings for Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls, SD. In addition to teaching, Dr. Kohls is the founder of the podcast, "The Well Mind," a platform to engage people in discussions about topics related to wellness, with a special emphasis on mental wellness. He leads a variety of workshops and trainings at the state and national level, and has an expertise in ethical decision making and practice.
